METL Bicycle Tyres: The Next-Gen Tyre
METL Bicycle Tyres: You can say this as the future of Bicycle tyres. This is Invented for use on the Moon and Mars, the SMART Tire Company’s airless alloy tyres move like rubber but they don’t go flat. Before getting into discussion let us know about the maker company. It is SMART, a startup founded in 2020, has a partnership with NASA through the Space Act Agreement.
SMART’s METL tire is the first fruit of the startup’s work with NASA’s Glenn Research Center, where NASA engineers Dr. Santo Padula and Colin Creager first developed their so-called “shape memory alloy” (SMA) technology. SMA allows for a tire constructed entirely of interconnected springs, which requires no inflation and is therefore immune to punctures, but which can still provide equivalent or better traction when compared to inflatable rubber tires, and even some built-in shock-absorbing capabilities.
With the elasticity of rubber and the strength of titanium, these METL bicycle tyres promise a number of practical benefits, and mightn’t be limited to just bicycles for long.
Earl Cole, CEO of The Smart Tire Company talks about METL Bicycle Tyres and says “Cyclists will not be able to wait to get their hands on these very cool-looking, space-age Metl tires that don’t go flat,” also he adds “The unique combination of these advanced materials, coupled with a next generation, eco-friendly design make for a revolutionary product.”
METL Bicycle Tyres: Specifications & What is it made of?
Made from a special advanced material, NiTinol+, a shape memory alloy (SMA), the METL tires can travel safely over rocky and sandy terrain. The wires are woven together to create an airless tire structure that has the ability to flex with the terrain, unlike current rigid wheels. The SMA material acts as a shock absorber and can traverse rock-laden terrain effortlessly without breaking or damaging the tire. According to the company, even with extreme deformation, the tire regains 100% of its shape through phase transitions at the molecular level.
This polyurethane-coated structure offers rubber-like properties, but its grip and durability appear to be far superior in all weather conditions. In addition to eliminating the dangers of pesky punctures, these shape memory wheels offer 30 times the recoverable strain of steel and should be long-lasting. They also claim that this material is environmentally friendly due to its great durability and the non-use of rubber.
Review of METL Bicycle Tyres
SMART claims that with METL tyres, you would only need one set for your bike’s entire lifespan. The company, founded by Survivor winner Earl Cole and blockchain engineer Brian Yennie, promises ‘no leaks, tears, punctures or messy sealants’. Dr Santo Padula says ‘Shape memory allows look extremely promising in revolutionising the entire terrestrial tyre industry and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.’
There is no declared weight, and the brand limits itself to saying that it will be of light weight. SMART Tire Company has expected to hit the market in 2022 but still now there is no clear declaration on the pricing part. That will be a concern for the people who will fall in love with the unique features of this tires.
If we talk about the benefit of this METL Bicycle Tyres, these Metl tires promise a number of practical benefits, and mightn’t be limited to just bicycles for long. Its a revolution altogether. one thing for sure, eliminating the use of rubber tyres would drastically reduce the pollutants we put into the ocean. And that will be a big achievement as far as the World’s environmental issues are concerned.
We are all looking forward to this new revolutionary Next-Gen Tyre.
